Kingswells, the nearest large settlement, is a town located approximately 7 miles West of Aberdeen, along the A92. The population according to the 2022 census was 4850. The town is more like a suburb of Aberdeen, with access to the city within a short drive or by public transport. Kingswells has existed as a village for centuries, but only beginning in the 1980s did it expand as a result of the boom in the oil industry. It has a wide range of local amenities including; a primary school, convenience store, doctor's surgery, veterinary surgery and two community halls.The village is served by regular bus services. McGill's service 14[2] between Kingswells and Aberdeen City Centre on weekdays. From the park and ride, Stagecoach Bluebird services 5[3] and 6[4] (both to Westhill & Aberdeen), and the 218 (to Alford & Aberdeen). Kingswells also has easy access to Bridge of Don and Dyce via the AWPR, convenient for people working at the Airport and Industrial Estates.
